About Ryann

Hi! I'm Ryann.

I'm a lifelong memory keeper, educator, artist, and creative entrepreneur who believes the stories of our lives deserve to be celebrated.

For years I've taught, designed, organized events, and helped people preserve both family memories and local history. Through Scrapbook Joey, I hope to inspire scrapbookers of every experience level with creative ideas, practical tools, and a little encouragement along the way.

Whether you're creating your very first scrapbook page or your thousandth, there's always room for another story, another technique, and another reason to gather around the crafting table.

When I'm not scrapbooking, you'll usually find me teaching, designing new projects, enjoying a good cup of coffee, spending time with family, or dreaming up the next adventure for JoJo.

I'm so glad you're here, and I can't wait to create with you!

The Story Behind Scrapbook Joey

People often ask how Scrapbook Joey began.

The truth is, it wasn't because I set out to start a business. It started because I love bringing people together.

For decades, I've been creating fun challenges whenever friends gather. It all began on July 7, 2007, when my sister hosted a "7-7-7" party. She had 7 challenges to complete that day. One of them was "Use the number 7 on a layout."

It caught on.  After that, whenever I invited friends over for a scrapbook weekend, everyone expected creative challenges.

Then, my 40th birthday was approaching . . .

Friends were traveling from all over the country to spend several days scrapbooking together, and naturally they were asking what challenges I had planned. I knew creating forty individual challenges for my 40th birthday would be overwhelming, even over an entire weekend.

So I asked myself a simple question:

What if we only had to complete some of the challenges instead of all of them?

The answer became a game.  A tool, really.

Using Mod Podge and a thrift-store find, I created a board that moved players through different spaces, each leading to a unique scrapbook challenge. Instead of trying to complete all forty challenges, each person only completed the ones they landed on.

It solved the problem perfectly.

What I didn't expect was what happened next.

As the weekend came to an end, friend after friend told me the same thing:

"I've never finished this many scrapbook pages at a retreat before."

Then came another question.

"When can I get my own copy?"

At first, I thought they were just being kind.

But I kept playing it with different groups over the years, and the comments never stopped. Eventually I realized this wasn't just a fun birthday idea. It was filling a need that scrapbookers had been quietly experiencing for years.

Many people told me they felt stuck. Their layouts all looked alike. They found themselves repeating the same techniques and page designs over and over. They wanted fresh inspiration, but they didn't know where to find it.

That's exactly what Scrapbook Joey was designed to do.

Every challenge encourages a new idea, a different perspective, or a creative technique you might not have tried on your own. The experience stays fresh because the challenges continue evolving alongside today's scrapbooking trends, giving you new inspiration every time you play.

Scrapbook Joey was born from a simple desire to help friends have more fun together.

Today, that same purpose remains at the heart of everything we create.
